Would you say Metamask is the best option to keep CEX-purchased Altcoins based on ETH? I am reading mixed things on "MEW" and it seems lacking compared to the Bitcoin BIP39-wallet I generated. Would love a paper wallet for my altcoins if possible.

I've tried Layer 2 ARB / MetaMask; regular Uniswap; PancakeSwap; Trust Wallet / BNB; Phantom -- I cannot figure out how to buy ethereum-based altcoins without spending $30~ in GasFees. How do you actually buy smart contract altcoins without high fees?
