The head to head results:
AI made more money than 844 (78%) human traders
AI had the smaller worst drop than 1,007 (94%) human traders
206 (19%) human traders made more but with a deeper drop
26 (2.4%) human traders beat the AI on both worst drop and gains
Made money: traders 31%, the AI 89%. The 206 who made more had a median worst drop of 49%, against 10% for the AI on the same dates.
The humans:
- The median trader lost $12,326.
- Half lost 90% of their account at some point.
- 23% got liquidated in just their last 14 active days.
- Small accounts ($1k to $10k) did worse: 21% made money and 72% lost 90% at some point.
The top 1%:
Of the top 1% by profit, 53 were bots and 25 were humans. The bots made a median of 874 trades a day.
Perps are zero-sum between traders before fees. The top 1%'s profit has to come from somewhere, and a lot of it comes from the 69% who lose.
So the question:
If the 69% who lose let AI trade for them instead, would the top 1% make less? As AI will have lesser drops hence top 1% will have less losing cash to snatch?
And if you've been on the losing side, would you let AI trade for you or does that kill the point of trading?
