the response from stakeholders may matter more than the theft itself

this is mostly a write up for me to look back on in a few months to a year

Let’s call the hacker the offense, and bitcoin stakeholders the defense.

If the defense doesn’t prevent the offense from winning this, is by findingthis hacker and restoreing investors, I believe there could be extensive loss of faith in the hearts of crypto investors if they’re not caught in the next few days. The more successful, the defense is, the deeper the investigation and global news coverage of the consequences of the to be convicted might be the biggest win in this case for cryptocurrency, so far in its history.

Now, for the offense/hackers to win this, well, the hackers may have already scored by stealing what could be a material amount of bitcoin. The only thing for the offensive team to win is to not let the defense get the ball back. I believe this could blow up in the news tomorrow either way. but if there’s no news that there were consequences to the thieves, then I believe enough hope could be lost that there could be deleveraging series of events that could further erode the confidence in bitcoin speculators minds. I believe this could create deep challenges for some pieces of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

i’ve seen deleveraging events before and the only reason the system didn’t collapse was because stakeholders showed the world that the system had backing. they gave investors confidence in the system. Again , tomorrow people will see this in the news and how well protected they feel maybe extremely important to cryptocurrencies future

This is just my perspective and some train of thought. We’ll see what happens tomorrow once we get more official confirmations on dollar amounts lost.
